There are a number of steps in the bid process and we ask that they be met in full or the proposal may
be withdrawn. If you require any assistance please contact the ISME Event Coordinator
(event@isme-microbes.org). The bid process for the ISME Symposium is as follows:

  1. Expression of Interest (EOI) – The ISME Executive will consider expressions of interest
on the completed form. The ISME Executive will consider these EOIs and then invite
short listed applicants to submit a full proposal. EOI applicants will be informed of the
ISME Executive decision on the outlined date.

  2. Full Proposal – To save time/effort by the bidders, preparation of the full proposal will be
by invitation of the ISME Executive only. Guidelines for this proposal will be sent to you
with the invitation. The ISME Executive will then consider these proposals and score them
based on a selection matrix. This selection matrix will be provided to you for reference
    when preparing your proposal.
  3. Venue Site Visit – Representatives of the ISME Executive and the ISME Event Coordinator
will visit the 2 or 3 highly ranked proposals. This site visit must be funded by the bidding
    organisation.
  4. Selection and Announcement – A report of the site visit will be prepared by the
Site Visit attendees and this will be submitted to the ISME Executive for deliberation.
The Announcement of the host organisation and location will occur at the penultimate
symposium (eg. ISME14 will be announced at ISME12)
