The You Lab in the Department of Environmental Resources Engineering at the State University of New York College of Environmental Sciences and Forestry (SUNY ESF) (Syracuse, NY) is recruiting a new PhD student to start as early as January 2022. Research in the You Lab (www.environresearch.net) probes interdisciplinary subjects related to the environmental microbiome in both natural and engineered systems.

This PhD position will focuses on interactions between microbiomes and organic micropollutants in aquatic systems. The ideal candidate should 1) have a BS/MS degree in Environmental Engineering or Chemical Engineering, Microbiology or Biotechnology, Environmental Science, or related field, 2) have prior experience in molecular microbiology (e.g. qPCR, metagenomics) or programming (e.g. R, Python), and 3) be self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively. The student will receive a full tuition scholarship and a 12-month stipend.
