Fully funded Ph position in Microbiology & Cell Science (max 4 years) in the Stingl lab at the University of Florida, UF/IFAS Fort Lauderdale Research & Education Center (https://flrec.ifas.ufl.edu/). The project addresses fundamental and applied questions related to turfgrass microbiomes. Experience with microbial cultivation and cultivation-independent methods (e.g. amplicon sequencing, metagenomics) and/or analytical methods related to N-fixation (e.g., ARA assays, GC) are desired. We offer a yearly stipend of 31k USD (estimated 3% yearly increase) and highly subsidized accommodation (200 USD monthly cost) in the dorm on campus. Project start date is Jan 1, 2023. Due to our tight timelines, US citizens and candidates with existing work permits in the US are especially encouraged to apply. A MSc degree in Microbiology/Microbial Ecology is highly desired but not necessary.
