Postdoctoral research fellow position in metagenomics and bioinformatics for microbial ecology

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher who holds a PhD in microbiology, bioinformatics (metagenomics), environmental biotechnology or related fields. The successful candidates must possess excellent communication skills (with spoken/written English) and be highly motivated and self-directed.

The postdoctoral researcher will conduct research on diversity, structure, evolution, function, and fate of microbes (virus/bacteria) in the urban water cycle. Ideal candidates should have a strong background in laboratory experiments with bioinformatics experience in analyzing high throughput sequence data (e.g., metagenomic/metatranscriptomic and 16S rRNA gene sequence data), preferably with molecular microbiological techniques (e.g., PCR, DNA/cDNA preparation for high throughput sequencing)

The appointment will be extended up to 4 years based upon satisfactory performance. We will provide competitive salary/benefits depending on the candidate's qualification under the University guideline. The position is immediately available and will remain open until filled. Candidates can apply by sending a single PDF file, including i) a cover letter describing research interests/strengths, ii) a CV, and iii) contact information of at least three references, to Prof. Oh (soh@khu.ac.kr).
