At St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, we provide state-of-the-art technologies, extraordinary support and a collaborative, bench-to-bedside environment. The Margolis lab in the Infectious Diseases Department is seeking a Scientist to join their interdisciplinary and highly collaborative team of microbiologists, computational biologists and clinicians. The research focus of the lab is to advance understanding of the bacterial community and host-bacterial interactions which contribute to antibiotic resistance and alter treatment outcomes in immunocompromised pediatric patients. This position will lead laboratory based projects to elucidate the normal physiological and immunological functions of pediatric microbial communities and evaluate microbial colonization resistance mechanisms to multi-drug resistant bacteria.

In this role you will join a laboratory, where we endeavor to move smoothly between large human data sets and in vivo and in vitro model systems to gain a deeper functional understanding of the pediatric microbiota, host and bacterial interactions and response to cancer/antibiotic treatment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in microbiology, immunology, metagenomics, evolutionary biology, metabolomics and/or microbial ecology.
