Project Goal: investigate how microbial ecophysiology, population dynamics, and microbe-mineral-organic matter interactions regulate the persistence of microbial residues in soil under changing moisture regimes.  Opportunities: Deploy greenhouse microcosm and field experiments that interrogate biogeochemical factors affecting soil C persistence. Access to our team’s many analytical tools, including NanoSIMS isotopic imaging, NMR, electron and Raman microscopy, accelerator mass spectrometry, NEXAFS/STXM spectroscopy, FTICR, stable isotope probing, 14C analysis, and imaging techniques to probe the characteristics of organic matter-mineral interactions.

This position is at Lawrence Livermore Lab, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our postdoc positions start at approx..$100k/yr, for up to 3 years. All postdocs contribute to interdisciplinary team projects, are encourage to spend 25% time to pursue career development activities, and provide significant input on project research directions.
